Your Fix Is Already Written Down. So Is Someone Else's.
An engineer's real knowledge rarely lives in a single polished document. It's scattered across a decade of datasheets, half-finished calculation sheets, a folder called "fixes" with forty files in it, notes to themselves about why a particular workaround was necessary and what broke before it was found. None of it was written for anyone else to read — it was written to be remembered, by one person, for as long as they needed it.
What Digercules already does, on one person's own archive: turns that pile into something searchable by what it actually is, not by filename or folder guesswork — every datasheet, schematic, and note annotated, unrecognized scans queued for OCR. For every single file — a topic, a language, a document type, key entities, a short summary. This is done ahead of time, without rush or deadline, before anyone urgently needs it — not at the last minute under pressure for a specific task. The finished library can be fed to any neural network, database, or search system — they take it from there, finding what's needed and building the interface; Digercules doesn't replace that next step, it makes it possible in the first place, by taking on the labor-intensive preparation nobody ever has the resources for. That part runs today, entirely on the engineer's own machine, on their own material.
What it doesn't do yet, but could: most DIY fixes and workarounds get solved more than once, by different people, in different workshops, years apart — because nobody who solved it wrote it up anywhere public, and nobody searching for it knew the right words to search for. Once a technical archive is actually organized and described the way Digercules already does today, the same underlying signal that makes one person's archive searchable — real annotations, not just filenames — could just as easily show that two people's separate archives describe the same problem, in different words, solved (or not) in different ways. Nobody's built that cross-archive matching yet. But it needs nothing more exotic than the annotation work already happening on every archive Digercules organizes today, run against more than one archive at a time.
This is why the engineer keeps showing up on the main page next to the musician and the archivist: all three are sitting on a personal archive that's complete enough to be useful alone, and only reveals its second, larger value once someone else's archive is willing to sit next to it.
